Club football has been suspended for two weeks as a result of the only international break before the first midseason World Cup tournament, which is scheduled to take place in November. This break will allow nations to prepare for the tournament and will give players a chance to impress their national team coach and be selected for the World Cup tournament.
A sizable number of Manchester United players, including Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Scott Mctominay, Fred, Casimiro, Antony, Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Elagan, and Martin Dubravka, have been selected by their respective countries to play for their countries in the international matches.
A few United players also fail to receive an international call-up, so they stay at Manchester United to train with Erik Ten Hag until their teammates arrive back home.
In this article, we will be writing on the Manchester United players who were not called for international duties by their countries.
1. Donny Van De Beek
Van De Beek, who is currently playing for Manchester United alongside his previous manager Erik Ten Hag, he has yet to seriously establish himself as having a significant part to play this season under the manager.
He was a regular for Ten Hag at Ajax, but now there is fierce competition for spots at Manchester United. He was also recently left out of the Netherlands squad for international duty, which is thought to be due to an injury.
2. Jadon Sancho
Sancho is still left out of the team that Gareth Southgate summoned up for the international matches in advance of the World Cup, in spite of his strong play for Manchester United thus far this season.
For the Manchester United winger to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the World Cup in November, he would now need to be in seriously consistent excellent form.
3. Aaron Wan Bissaka
Due to Erik Ten Hag’s preference for Diogo Dalot, the Manchester United right back has fallen lower down the pecking order at Manchester United this season.
Given that Alexander Trent Alnord, Reece James, and Kyle Walker are regarded higher than Aaron Wan Bissaka in the England squad at the right back position, it will be more difficult for him to be called up for international games.
4. Marcus Rashford
Rashford has been a revelation under Erik Ten Hag this season, but miss out on a call up to the national team, as reports claims his absence was due to injury.
5. Anthony Martial
Martial had an impressive pre-season training before the start of the season, but his progress under Erik Ten Hag has been hampered by injury.
He is also absent from the France squad for this international break, as he is still working his way back to fitness.
6. Phil Jones
The player with the longest tenure at Manchester United is currently Phil Jones. He has stayed with the team despite not being a regular in the matchday squad for the past two seasons.
The England international hasn’t participated in a national team match for England in a while.
7. David De Gea
The Manchester United number one goalkeeper was left out of the Spanish squad for their national league games. It is left to be seen if De Gea would be included in the Spain world cup squad in November.
Who among these players deserves to be called by their national team side?
