Arsenal are at the summit of the Premier League with 27 points from a possible 30. They have a 100% home record, won 80% of their away games, scored 24 goals and conceded only 10. The thing about this team that makes them unpredictable to opponents is their front 3, all of which can switch places during games. It has been a front three of Martinelli, Jesus, and Bukayo Saka that have provided 14 out of 24 goals scored by Arsenal players this season. So far this season, Jesus has five goals and four assists, Bukayo Saka has four goals and three assists, and Martinelli has four goals and two assists.
In the midfield, Martin Odegaard has scored 3 goals, but many would have argued he should have gotten more based on the number of chances he squandered. It’s only a matter of time before fans start to call for his head if he continues that way, because in some games the team might require their midfielders to step up. He’s, however, assisted twice.
Granit Xhaka has scored two goals and produced three assists so far and has been an inspiration this season for the Gunners. Thomas Partey has just one goal so far, and it was a beautiful one against North London rivals Tottenham, but he’s yet to record any assists in seven games simply because he’s not been given the permission to move forward like Granit Xhaka. Fabio Vieira, a newcomer, has also scored one goal in five games.
Arsenal star defender William Saliba has two goals and one assist, but he’s one yellow card away from suspension.
Gabriel Magalhaes has scored one goal this season, no assists, and has appeared in all 10 games this season. However, except for the two fullbacks, Ben White and Zinchenko, and, of course, Ramsdale, the others all scored. It’s worth mentioning here that one of the 24 goals was an own goal scored by Guehi on the opening day when Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
Arsenal travel to Southampton on Sunday, October 23rd, hoping to maintain their lead in the Premier League table.
