Former Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, was a guest on Politics Today on Channels Television on Friday night, where he answered questions on the perceived rivalry between the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
He said that the issue between Atiku and Wike is under control, and that talks are ongoing between the two men to resolve the issue as their party prepares for the 2023 elections.
During the interview, he also questioned the comments that the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, made about Atiku and Tinubu a few days ago.
In an interview on Arise News, Festus Keyamo had said that Atiku has never been in a position where he had to make the final call, unlike Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi who had been in such position when they were Governors of their respective states.
Keyamo also said that Tinubu is also a good manager of men, and that he has raised champions, some of whom are now topshots in the mainstream of politics today, and that none of the other presidential candidates can boast of that.
In the interview, Dino Melaye, who is the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, said that if Tinubu was a good manager of men as Keyamo claimed, then why was the former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, removed after serving for just one term after Tinubu discovered him.
It should be recalled that Ambode served as the Governor of Lagos State for a single term of four years, between 2015 to 2019. But he lost the chance to go for a second term when he was defeated at the APC primaries by the current Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
