Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United sent scouts to monitor Rangers center-back Leon King, who is a gifted player. The Red Devils improved their central defense this summer by bringing in Ajax Amsterdam’s Lisandro Martinez.
Although Raphael Varane and Martinez have developed a solid rapport, it appears that United is now taking King’s long-term possibilities into account. According to Romano, King’s current Rangers deal is slated to expire in the summer of 2024, so the Red Devils are keeping a close eye on him. However, they are not the only ones who keep track; Liverpool and Newcastle United do as well. The recent 2-0 Champions League loss for Liverpool was initiated by the teenager.
The Red Devils spent more than £220 million on six players over the summer. Targeting celebrities who can make an effect right away was the major objective this semester.
However, the club must also have a long-term plan in place. In the league, Chelsea, a rival, has already led by example by hiring several young people. They appear to be paying heed to King, so United should follow suit. The teenager’s tackling is strong despite the fact that he is not the tallest defender. His dispersion in reverse has also been remarkable. Although right back is his regular position, he has also played center defender for the Rangers.
