The All Progressives Congress (APC) women in the South-East on Wednesday held a rally in support of the party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima.

The women’s wing of the APC presidential campaign South-East zone gathered in large numbers at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, the Imo State capital to drum up support for their party’s candidate.

Dressed in colourful attire, leaders of the group took turns addressing the crowd and urged them to vote for the party’s candidate.

Chioma Uzodimma, South-East Women’s Coordinator for the APC Presidential Campaign and the wife to Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, said Wednesday’s rally is a preamble.

The Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress campaign council, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday night said he was not aware of the current location of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

This is even as he dismissed speculations that the former Lagos State governor travelled out of the country to seek medical assistance.

Keyamo, who made the clarification when he appeared on Channels Tv ‘Politics Today’, stated that only mischief makers are gravely concerned about Tinubu’s whereabouts, adding that nobody makes a fuss when the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, travelled to Dubai.Photo Source: Google

Former deputy national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bode George has asked the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to ask the national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu to resign so that the party can be united going into the polls.

George, who was also a national vice chairman of PDP, stated this when he featured as a guest on the Channels TV political and current affair programme Politics Today.

The PDP chief and Board of Trustees (PDP) who is one of the leaders in the group calling for Ayu’s resignation, said a divided house cannot win the 2023 election, stressing that their demand was not a difficult one to meet.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has released the final list of candidates that will contest the governorship and houses of assembly election in 28 states of the federation in the 2023 elections.

In a statement signed on Wednesday by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, the list contained 18 political parties that fielded 837 candidates and their running mates for the 28 governorship elections.

Also, the statement indicated that 10,231 candidates would vie for 993 seats in the state assembly elections.

The list also included the names of the running mates to the governorship candidates from the 18 political parties billed to participate in the poll.

Findings by The PUNCH indicate that no fewer than 14 candidates in 12 states have been knocked off the INEC list on account of the litigation and controversies that dogged the parties’ primary elections.
