How Xavi could set up his side to keep their UCL hopes alive

Barcelona are sweating on the fitness of Gavi ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena

The Young Spain midfielder was substituted due to an abductor injury in the Blaugrana’s league match against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday & according to reports, he’s expected to pass a late fitness test to make the traveling squad to Germany & be able to start from the blast of the whistle on Wednesday.

Sergi Roberto also sustained an injury against Bilbao and is likely to be on the sidelines for a lengthy period after he fractured his shoulder during the Catalan giants 3-0 win.

Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Memphis Depay are all set to be unavailable due to ankle, groin and hamstring issues respectively.

Xavi Hernandez’s men will see their hopes of securing a place in the round of sixteen vanish, if Italian heavyweights, Inter Milan manages to win their match vs Viktoria Plzen tomorrow.

The Spanish side will drop to the second tier competition (Europa League).

Roberto injury will open up chances for Hector Bellerin to fill in at right-back, while Marcos Alonso occupies the opposite flank ahead of the likes of Alejandro Balde and Jordi Alba

In midfield, Frenkie De Jong will be retained while the attack will feature Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele.
